If everyone in Wisconsin came to Tampa Electric’s free Manatee Viewing Center and brought a few friends, what would they say? Maybe something like: “Wow! You mean this place is free?! It’s incredible! And there’s way more than manatees!” Since 1986, 6 million people – about equal to the entire population of Wisconsin – have experienced free Florida beauty at its finest at our Manatee Viewing Center. On Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., we celebrate this milestone made possible by people like you and others from around the world (not just Wisconsin, although it’s lovely). It should be another beautiful day along our waterway boardwalks and lush paths through natural Florida. Atop our observation tower with incredible views across Tampa Bay. At our gently rippling rays tank where you can touch magnificent winged creatures as they glide past. Inside the immersive glow of our education building, around the corner from the South Shore Café. And manatees! (Mostly when the water temperature of Tampa Bay is 68 degrees Fahrenheit or colder. But they like our clean, warm water canal, so there’s a good chance some will be around either way.)
